Democratic Vistas: Can America Be Trusted Again?

David Frum | © Michael Pfister

Vortrag von David Frum, ehem. Redenschreiber von Präsident George W. Bush & The Atlantic, Washington D.C

Democracy was on the ballot in 2020. So were the environment and collective security. A majority of Americans rejected authoritarianism and isolationism in the last presidential election. With war raging in Ukraine, another war threatening in Asia, and the whole planet heating, Americans will soon vote again. Can the world still trust American leadership? David Frum is a staff writer at The Atlantic and the author of ten books, most recently Trumpocalypse: Restoring American Democracy (HarperCollins, 2020). He has been active in Republican politics since the first Reagan campaign of 1980. From 2014 through 2017, Frum served as chairman of the board of trustees of the leading UK center-right think tank, Policy Exchange. In 2001 and 2002, he served as speechwriter and special assistant to President George W. Bush and has taken credit for the famous phrase “axis of evil” in Bush’s 2002 State of the Union address. Students of the United World College will lead a discussion with David Frum after his talk.
